Put the name of the month on the cards. If you forget, you may not remember for which month you are recording your steps, and this makes it much easier for you to record your monthly totals online. Print additional log sheets to track your progress.
Total Number of Steps
There is a line with two columns for every day of the month. Enter the total number of steps on your pedometer at the end of each day. At the end of the month, add them up and write in the total. Please enter your monthly totals online- we are not looking for the daily numbers. Each month you will be sent a reminder email, with a link to the step registration page.
Steps That Replace Car Trips
The right-hand column asks you to think about steps that may have replaced a car trip, simply circle yes or no here. These steps are very important, because you are not only improving your health by walking, but you are also keeping pollution out of the air and cutting down on traffic congestion. So, how do you keep track of these steps?
There may be a number of other trips you take that would normally have been driving trips; these could include:
Going to the library
Visiting a friend
Walking your child to school
Any number of other activities
Try to measure the number of steps for these trips and write them down for future reference.
