February is Black History Month, commemorating important figures and events in the Black History. It's a time to recognize and honor the legacy of Black individuals and their impact on American society and culture, particularly in the areas of civil rights, arts, sciences, and more.
Learn more about the history of African Americans at the library in February:
- Black History Month scavenger hunt about famous Black Americans, and a book display will take place all month.
- Profiles online presentation "And Still We Rise: Harriet Tubman" will be on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 11am on Zoom.
- Black History Month Film Series featuring documentaries and films about famous historical figures will take place Friday afternoons in February at 3pm.
- Oregon Black Pioneers will give a presentation titled “A Man Called York” about York from the Lewis and Clark expedition on Monday, Feb. 9, at 6pm. Find out more at: www.wilsonvillelibrary.org.
