December 2, 2025 — At the December 1, 2025, meeting of the Wilsonville City Council, those assembled gave a rousing standing ovation to Police Chief Rob Wurpes, who is retiring at the end of the year. Wurpes reflected on eight years in Wilsonville and introduced his successor, Chief Jed Wilson, who assumes the duties of Wilsonville Police Chief in January. Clackamas County Sheriff Angela Brandenburg and members of the Council thanked Wurpes for his many contributions over a 26-year tenure with Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

On second reading, the Council adopted an ordinance that establishes a new process for City staff to seek administrative warrants from the City’s Municipal Court Judge that allows them to enter private property when there is probable cause to investigate possible violations of provision(s) of the Wilsonville Code.

November 20, 2025 — Wilsonville residents and business operators are invited to attend one of two public open house events to be held at Wilsonville City Hall (29799 SW Town Center. Loop E.) on Tuesday, Dec. 2 to detail proposed increases in the City’s sewer and stormwater utility fees.

The sessions begin at 4 pm and 7 pm. Each session will begin with a presentation about the City’s recent Sewer and Stormwater Rate Review, which recommends adjusting the fee structure for residents, businesses, and developers to fund about $240 million in new capital improvement projects over the next 20 years. Afterwards, attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the project team.

November 18, 2025 — At the November 17, 2025, meeting of the Wilsonville City Council, the Council adopted, on first reading, an ordinance that establishes a new process for City staff to seek administrative warrants from the City’s Municipal Court Judge that allow staff to enter private property when there is probable cause to investigate possible violations of provision(s) of the Wilsonville Code.

The Council approved a sub-recipient agreement between South Metro Area Regional Transit (SMART) and regional transportation provider TriMet that allows SMART to receive its allocation of Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF) money for 2026 and 2027. STIF Funding is expected to provide about $6.7 million for projects and services outlined in SMART’s Transit Master Plan.

November 10, 2025Beginning today and continuing through Nov. 24, the City is inviting residents and other community stakeholders to share their feedback regarding Wilsonville Town Center Plan and the funding mechanism that would support implementation of the Plan over the next several decades.

The Wilsonville City Council is engaged in outreach activities in support of its two-year goal to engage the community in conversation about the adopted 2019 Town Center Plan’s priorities and funding strategies.

November 4, 2025 — The November 3, 2025, meeting of the Wilsonville City Council began with the swearing in of new City Councilor Sam Scull by Municipal Court Judge Fred Weinhouse. Scull was appointed on Oct. 20 to fill the Council seat vacated by former Councilor Katie Dunwell; his term continues through December 2026.

To aid the City in monitoring and tracking reductions in greenhouse gas (GHG) and to align with State GHG reduction goals, the City Council adopted the City’s first Climate Action Plan. The Plan provides a basis for developing future implementation measures as needed to address climate change as Wilsonville’s GHG emissions change over time.

October 21, 2025 — At the October 20, 2025, meeting of the Wilsonville City Council, the Council elected to appoint Sam Scull to fill the Council seat vacated by former Councilor Katie Dunwell last month. A member of the City’s Planning Commission and a commercial inspector by trade, Scull has previously served on the City’s Budget Committee and its Development Review Board. He is scheduled to be sworn in at the Council’s next meeting on Nov. 3.

The Council approved the City’s use of three arborists for on-call services as needed. This action allows the City to more efficiently respond to project needs, and to save staff time and costs associated with procurement services for smaller projects not to exceed $250,000.

October 20, 2025 — In pursuit of progress toward the City Council’s two-year goal to engage the community in conversation about the 2019 Town Center Plan’s priorities and potential funding mechanisms, the City has commissioned Portland-based DHM Research to conduct a series of professional focus groups.

Oct. 15, 2025 — The City and Republic Services are hosting the fall Bulky Waste Day collection on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 am to 1 pm at Republic Services (10295 SW Ridder Rd.) in Wilsonville.

Bulky Waste Day provides an opportunity for Wilsonville residents to dispose of large or unusual items that cannot be picked up curbside. Proof of residence is required to participate.

October 14, 2025  The City of Wilsonville is now accepting applications from residents who are interested in serving on the City boards and commissions that provide guidance and oversight of City programs.

The City is seeking to fill 15 seats on five City boards. Members typically attend evening meetings (no more than once a month) and assist in making policy recommendations to the City Council.

October 7, 2025 — At the October 6, 2025, meeting of the Wilsonville City Council, the Council adopted a Natural Areas Management Plan, which supports a more ecologically-resilient future and improves the health and resilience of ecosystems within the City’s natural areas The NAMP provides a framework for natural area management in order to ensure the long-term maintenance and enhancement of City-owned natural areas for the community’s benefit.

September 26, 2025 - At a special meeting of the City Council held on Thursday, Sept. 25, the Council established a process, timeline, application questions, and factors that the Councilors are to consider when reviewing applicants for the City Council seat vacated when Katie Dunwell resigned last week.

Mayor Shawn O’Neil said he sought a transparent, collaborative process that allows each Councilor to review and consider candidates for the position.

“I wanted to take the mayor out of (leading the process) and allow us all as a collective body to work together to find the best candidate,” O’Neil said.

“Serving as representative of Wilsonville citizens has been a rewarding experience,” Dunwell said, citing the unexpected passing of her husband Jim in 2024 as a catalyst for her decision. “I am proud of the accomplishments during my (three) years on Council.  More than anything, I had the privilege to serve on Council as we designed and implemented a safe overnight camping area for unhoused individuals and families in need.”

Notice of Supplemental Budget Hearing

A public hearing on a proposed supplemental budget for the City of Wilsonville, Clackamas, and Washington Counties, for fiscal year July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 will be held at the Wilsonville City Hall, 29799 SW Town Center Loop East, Wilsonville, Oregon. The hearing will take place during a regular City Council meeting on the 6th day of October 2025. The meeting begins at 7:30 pm and will also be held via Zoom web conferencing platform. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss the supplemental budget with interested persons.
