Book Bike
The Wilsonville Public Library, in collaboration with the Wilsonville Friends of the Library, has a new mode of transportation - a three-wheeled, electric Book Bike! The Book Bike is currently on display in the library while staff get trained on riding it safely in early July 2025. The Book Bike will be making several appearances at community events and parks this summer and fall.
Library staff will take the Book Bike out into the community to provide library services on the go, while encouraging a healthy and eco-friendly mode of transportation. The project was championed by the Wilsonville Friends of the Library, who were awarded a matching grant through the Wilsonville-Metro Community Enhancement Grant program. The idea of bringing a book bike to Wilsonville was first introduced by former Wilsonville children’s librarian and passionate cyclist, Terri Wortman.
The bike was locally made by Icicle Tricycle in Portland. It has seven gears and an electric-assist. The bike can hold a selection of books and library staff will be able to checkout books to patrons from the book bike out in the community
Stay tuned for a full calendar of scheduled Book Bike appearances!
