StoryWalk in the Park

Fall STORYWALK® : "I am Ruby Bridges" by Ruby Bridges

In 1960, at the age of six, Ruby Bridges became the first black student at William Frantz Elementary School when the ruling on Brown vs Board of Education integrated schools in the US. Learn about her bravery and reflect on the importance of acceptance, community change, and building bridges as you walk and read “I am Ruby Bridges.”

You can read and check out all of our past StoryWalk® books too.

SELF-GUIDED STORIES IN THE PARK

What is a StoryWalk®?

A StoryWalk® is a fun way to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from an illustrated book are attached to signs, which are installed along a paved, outdoor path. As you make your way down the trail, you are directed to the next page in the story. Stories are changed out on a regular basis.

We invite you to share photos with the Library and Parks! You can email pics to the Library at childrens@wilsonvillelibrary.org, or message either department on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. @WilsonvilleLibrary @WVParksandRec.

The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
