Rider Rights
As a SMART public transit rider, you have the right to:
• Peace-of-mind, knowing that only police officers and those with valid permits can carry a concealed firearm.
• A smoke-free trip. Smoking – including vaping – is prohibited in or near the buses and shelters.
• Clear aisle access. No one is allowed to bring oversized bags and packages on the bus that will block isles, including strollers.
• A peaceful environment. Annoying and/or excessive noise is not allowed.
• A trip with your pet, as long as they are in an enclosed carrier.
• A trip with your Service Animal, as long as they are controlled by you with a leash and not occupying a seat.
• A trip to your final destination, as long as that does not exceed 2 hours. Aimless riding is not permitted.
• Priority seating. As an elderly, pregnant, or disabled person fellow passengers should give up their seat for you.
• A harassment-free ride.
