Rider Rights
As a SMART public transit rider, you have the right to:
- Peace of mind. Only police officers and those with valid permits may carry a concealed firearm.
- Smoke-free trips. No smoking – including vaping – is allowed in or near buses or shelters.
- Clear aisles. Riders may not travel with oversized bags, packages, strollers or other items that block aisles.
- Peaceful rides. No excessive or annoying noise is permitted.
- The company of your pet. Pets in enclosed carriers are welcome on all buses.
- The company of your service animal. Service animals are permitted when leashed and not occupying a seat.
- Arrival at your destination. Aimless riding is not permitted; trips shall not exceed two hours.
- Priority seating for those in need. Passengers are asked to kindly offer their seat to anyone pregnant, experiencing disability, or over the age of 65
- Harassment-free rides. Riders shall treat one another respectfully at all times.
